Ages my kids have loved it: 3-5 and counting
Can be watched in Spanish: Some episodes available in Spanish
Why: It makes great use of things a lot of kids are interested in like trains and cars and uses them to make learning about shapes and letters and colors pretty fun.

 

Puffin Rock and Llama Llama

Where I watch it: Netflix
Ages my kids have loved it: 2-5 and counting
Can be watched in Spanish: Yes!
Why: I mostly like these because you can watch them in Spanish. It’s exposure to conversational Spanish at a fairly easy level and the stories are engaging enough that they are entertaining to kids even in a language they can’t understand…yet.

 

Daniel Tiger

Where I watch it: PBS Kids
Ages my kids have loved it: 1-4 ish
Can be watched in Spanish: I don’t know
Why: I like it because it does an incredible job of giving kids a framework for understanding their emotions and tools for navigating them. We have used Daniel Tiger songs countless times in our day-to-day life. I couldn’t recommend this show enough.

 

Planet Earth

Where I watch it: Netflix
Ages my kids have loved it: Well, love is a strong word.
Can be watched in Spanish: I don’t know
Why: This show is paced and visually breathtaking. My kids don’t really LOVE it, but they get super into it when I have it on.
